Improving your world may seem overwhelming and it can be hard to know where to start - the answer is with one small change

What can we do to make our world a better place? It starts with awareness, applying a sense of interconnection to the things that we consume. Where does our food come from, our clothes, our devices. By taking a moment to understand the connections that our actions have with the wider world we can then inform choices that support a kinder world.

We can also understand how our current economic and social structures impact our lives. We’re born into these systems, grow up with them and can be blind to the impact that they have on us and other people but taking a step back gives us an opportunity to see these structures through fresh eyes. When we think of our education system, our workplaces, our justice system, our environment, our social media - do these institutions in the way that they’re currently structured create a kinder, happier, ethical world for the future.

The answer may be yes or no but in all cases but there’s some improvements that can be made. The question for us as individuals is what is our role, how can we engage and drive change that makes our lives less stressful but also protects those who are suffering and marginalised. That might seem huge and overwhelming but we can start with one system - like your school or workplace - and one small thing that you could work with others to make it better. Try initiating something with others and see how it makes you feel, lots of little changes add up to a kinder world for everyone.
